Age Requirements

Physical Requirements

The minimum age to learn to scuba dive is 10 years old. From the age of 10 - 15 you receive a Junior Diver certification and must dive with a certified diver over the age of 18 years. From age 15 years, the normal Open Water Certification applies. There is no maximum age limit!  One stipulation if someone in the group is 10 years old the max I can certify in that group is 4.



You will need to be able to swim 200 yds and then tread water for 10 minutes as part of the physical requirements to complete the course.  Or you can swim with your mask, snorkel, and fins 300 yds.

Course dates and times:

Course dates are flexible, but usually runs over two evenings and 2 half days in the ocean.  You will do one night of academics usually takes about 3 hours.  One night or half day of confine water in the Ocean or swimming pool.  Then 2 half days in the ocean.


Course Equipment provided:

·         Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD)

·         Regulator

·         Dive Computer

·         Tank

·         Weight Belt and weights 


Course Equipment you provide (Mask, Snorkel, Fins, and Booties):

·         Safety Sausage


Course Material:

·         Student Record File (Folder) 

o    Fill out the front, back, and inside portion (Medical, Liability Release, Standard Safe Diving Practice)

·         Open Water Diver Manual 

o    Complete the 5 knowledge reviews in the book at the end of each chapter 

·         PADI Divers log book 

o    Fill out the front page with your contact info

·         Waterproof Recreational Dive Planner or Dive Computer your choice during the class 


pen Water Dives 4 shore dives.  2 dives to 40 feet and 2 dives to 60 feet.
